This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Oversee the engineering design activities for various piping systems, including process piping, high-temperature piping, utility piping, specialty systems, and facility piping interfaces.
• Create, evaluate, and authorize piping specifications, classes, line lists, tie-in requirements, routing designs, support strategies, anchoring methods, and technical calculations.
• Assess the behavior of high-temperature piping, including expansion, flexibility, anchoring, guides, supports, equipment loads, routing limitations, and maintenance requirements.
• Review piping layouts, isometric drawings, support details, inputs for stress analysis, material selections, valve specifications, penetration details, and vendor documentation.
• Collaborate with process, mechanical, instrumentation & control, HVAC, electrical, civil/structural, safety, radiological controls, quality, construction, and operations teams on piping design.
• Assist in design reviews, constructability assessments, hazard evaluations, field inspections, procurement processes, construction issue resolution, testing, startup, and commissioning activities.
• Offer technical guidance to piping designers and engineers while ensuring configuration control, quality standards, and adherence to timelines.
• Prepare engineering dispositions, technical assessments, design modification packages, and clear recommendations for project leadership.
• A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
• Over 10 years of experience in piping engineering within nuclear, DOE, chemical, high-temperature, high-hazard, process, or highly regulated industrial environments.
• Extensive experience in high-temperature piping, piping specifications, routing, anchoring, supports, piping materials, and coordination of piping design.
• Familiarity with piping codes, pressure boundary specifications, stress factors, thermal expansion, equipment interfaces, constructability, and configuration management.
• Proficiency in reviewing P&IDs, piping layouts, isometric drawings, support details, specifications, vendor submissions, and site conditions.
• Strong skills in technical leadership, communication, review processes, issue resolution, and cross-discipline collaboration.
• Capability to secure and maintain necessary site access, training, and security clearances.
• Due to government contract requirements, US citizenship is mandatory.
• Preferred qualifications include experience with hot cells, gloveboxes, GTS, nuclear fuel facilities, uranium processing, chemical processing, or radiological facility piping.
• Experience with ASME B31.3, ASME Section III interfaces, nuclear quality standards, pipe stress analysis, or seismic design considerations.
• Professional Engineer license or advanced experience in piping/stress analysis.
• Active DOE L or Q security clearance.
