Senior Performance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.

📋 Description

• Profile, benchmark, and evaluate AI and HPC workloads on GPU and CPU clusters.

• Investigate performance characteristics of high-performance networking and collective communications.

• Detect performance bottlenecks across networking, computation, memory, and system architecture.

• Create and improve performance analysis, benchmarking, and diagnostic tools.

• Formulate performance test plans and set expectations for new technologies and platforms.

• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, networking, systems, and software teams to provide actionable performance insights.

• Assist in telemetry collection and data refinement efforts to enable precise performance analysis.

• Uphold high standards for data quality, reproducibility, and traceability of performance results.

⛳️ Requirements

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in performance analysis, systems engineering, or HPC/AI infrastructure.

• Proven expertise in performance analysis skills and methodologies.

• Practical experience with high-performance networking, including RDMA, MPI, NCCL, and congestion control.

• Strong comprehension of system performance metrics, such as latency, throughput, and resource utilization.

• Familiarity with hardware, firmware, or embedded telemetry environments.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Ability to thrive in cross-functional, fast-paced R&D teams.

• Knowledge of CUDA, NCCL internals, and congestion control algorithms is a plus.

• Extensive system-level understanding of CPU architectures, GPUs, HCAs, memory, and PCIe is beneficial.

• Experience with NVIDIA GPUs, CUDA, and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow is advantageous.

• Experience with cloud platforms is a plus.

• Proficiency in Python; familiarity with Bash and C/C++ is beneficial.
