This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Manage the complete payroll execution process from start to finish.

• Oversee semi-monthly and monthly payroll operations across various U.S. states, including payments for international contractors.

• Ensure payroll processing is conducted accurately, promptly, and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

• Guarantee payroll accuracy, controls, and compliance.

• Review payroll registers, verify inputs (earnings, deductions, benefits), and audit modifications before final submission.

• Maintain robust internal controls and documentation to ensure readiness for audits.

• Stay updated on changing payroll regulations and ensure compliance across different jurisdictions.

• Take charge of Payroll Accounting and General Ledger Integration.

• Prepare and review payroll journal entries, ensuring precise posting to NetSuite.

• Reconcile all payroll-related balance sheet accounts (wages, taxes, benefits, 401k, accruals, etc.) on a monthly basis.

• Ensure that payroll activities align seamlessly with the general ledger and facilitate an accurate and timely closing process.

• Manage complex payroll situations.

• Precisely process bonuses, commissions, variable compensation, retroactive adjustments, and corrections.

• Calculate and record payroll accruals (bonuses, PTO, commissions) with a solid understanding of timing and financial implications.

• Collaborate cross-functionally.

• Work closely with People & Culture to maintain accurate employee data, benefits, and withholdings.

• Partner with Accounting and FP&A to assist with financial reporting, accruals, and variance analysis.

• Drive optimization of systems and process improvements.

• Support and enhance payroll system integrations (Rippling & NetSuite), ensuring accurate and efficient data flow.

• Identify opportunities to automate workflows, enhance controls, and improve payroll operations as the company grows.

• Assist with audit and year-end processes.

• Prepare payroll-related documentation and reconciliations for audits and internal reviews.

• Support year-end tasks, including W-2 processing, 1095-C reporting, and tax filings.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive payroll experience, including full responsibility for payroll processing in a multi-state environment.

• Experience within a SaaS or high-growth company, with familiarity with variable compensation structures (bonuses, commissions, etc.).

• In-depth knowledge of U.S. payroll compliance (federal, state, and local regulations).

• Strong understanding of how payroll affects the general ledger and financial statements.

• Proven experience in preparing payroll journal entries and conducting account reconciliations.

• Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and accountability.

• Ability to work independently and take full ownership of the payroll function.

• Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach.

• Effective communicator with the capability to collaborate cross-functionally with P&C and F&A.

• Technologically adept with a focus on process improvement and automation.
