This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee and evaluate payroll processing systems to guarantee the timely and precise execution of payroll transactions, which include salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions, as well as time and attendance records.
• Calculate and verify taxable wage/paycheck computations.
• Ensure the prompt and accurate processing of payroll updates, encompassing new hires, terminations, promotions, changes in pay rates, and bonus distributions.
• Manage incoming correspondence, including investigating agency tax notices and addressing outstanding requests.
• Assist employees with inquiries regarding paychecks or other payment-related issues.
• Carry out all necessary state tax filings and reporting for various entities.
• Provide reporting support for People and Finance teams and Equip leadership, including monthly payroll analysis summaries and account reconciliations, among other reports.
• Investigate and respond to queries from employees or leadership in a thorough and timely fashion.
• Collaborate effectively across the organization and with different functions.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or equivalent professional experience.
• FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is advantageous.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in multi-state, multi-entity payroll operations; familiarity with Rippling or similar modern automated HRIS platforms is highly desirable.
• Strong foundational understanding of End-to-End Payroll processing, including salaries, overtime, bonuses, gross to net calculations, taxable wages, leave pay, garnishments, benefits, and retirement.
• Experience in tax reconciliation and reporting.
• Solid grounding in tax regulations and reporting, including federal, state, local, unemployment, and PFML taxes, along with FLSA and wage and hour compliance knowledge.
• Background in a high-growth or fast-paced environment, adaptable to rapid changes and innovation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite.
• Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized, proactive, and results-oriented.
• Proven ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to delivering top-notch internal customer service and external interactions with tax and benefits agencies.
