This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Manage and execute precise semi-monthly payroll for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, as well as monthly payroll for Brazil, which includes off-cycle runs, bonuses, and adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local tax laws and wage regulations across AMER jurisdictions, overseeing new U.S. tax registrations and year-end reporting (such as W-2s and T4s).
• Review and approve all payroll runs before transmission, making sure they adhere to internal controls, company policies, local laws, and audit standards.
• Collaborate closely with People Operations, Stock Administration, Compensation, Benefits, and external vendors (like ADP) to enhance workflows and address complex payroll issues.
• Track and drive the timely resolution of open payroll tickets, ensuring thorough documentation and communication with affected stakeholders.
• Partner with the GL team on month-end close procedures, managing payroll-related journal entries, reconciliations, and salary accruals.
• Lead initiatives for payroll process improvements and automation, working with People Tech to refine integrations between Workday and third-party payroll systems.
• Act as the AMER payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME), offering clear and consistent guidance on policy interpretations, tax changes, and payroll inquiries to internal partners and employees.
• Analyze payroll data and metrics to identify trends, support broader Finance and People initiatives (including platform and data-driven projects), and facilitate transparent decision-making.
• Mentor and support payroll team members to enhance regional capabilities while fostering a collaborative culture that positively challenges existing practices.
• Extensive hands-on payroll experience in multi-state U.S. payroll plus at least one additional AMER country within a mid- to large-sized, multi-entity corporate environment.
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal and state payroll tax, wage and hour laws, and year-end reporting; familiarity with Canadian, Mexican, and/or Brazilian regulations is preferred.
• Knowledge of equity compensation (ESPP, NQ, ISO, RSU) is preferred.
• Experience with ADP and other third-party payroll providers; comfortable navigating multiple systems and integrations.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles related to payroll (including accruals, reconciliations, and GL mapping) and experience in supporting month-end close activities.
• Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets for reconciliations, variance analysis, and audit support.
• Demonstrated ability to manage processes from start to finish, meet deadlines, and function effectively in a rapidly changing environment.
• Proven success in collaborative work with Finance, HR, Technology, Benefits, Stock, and Compensation teams.
