Senior Packaging Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the conceptualization and detailed engineering design, execution, and implementation of medium-complexity capital projects.

• Create engineering solutions for process engineering endeavors and innovative technologies using established design standards and methodologies.

• Generate construction scopes, bid packages, manufacturing alternatives, layouts, PFDs, and P&IDs.

• Identify, select, and assess equipment and suppliers.

• Estimate costs for capital projects.

• Coordinate and supervise the installation, checkout, and commissioning of equipment and systems.

• Troubleshoot and enhance packaging systems during the startup phase.

• Conduct training sessions for operators, supervisors, QA, and maintenance personnel.

• Transfer deliverables and documentation to Plant Operations and Maintenance.

• Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for packaging-system capital projects.

• Lead multifunctional teams and make critical decisions under pressure.

• Collaborate with engineering, plant, manufacturing, operations, safety, quality, regulatory, EHS, R&D, marketing, procurement, and external vendors.

• Travel domestically and internationally as required, averaging 35%–50% and reaching 60%–80% during specific project phases.

• May oversee packaging systems-focused projects and manage co-ops or interns.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Food Packaging Systems, Salty Snacks, Confectionery, Pharmaceutical, or related sectors.

• Experience in packaging systems engineering, design, project management, troubleshooting, and optimization.

• Strong comprehension of packaging systems unit operations and equipment, sanitary design and construction practices, GMPs, and food safety regulations.

• Familiarity with product distribution/conveyors, radial scales, vertical form fill seal, inspection equipment, cartoners, case packers, palletizers, and AMRs/AGVs.

• Knowledge of packaging systems design, application, maintenance, food manufacturing equipment, automation, and instrumentation.

• Experience with manufacturing processes, construction practices, standards, and codes.

• Excellent troubleshooting and optimization capabilities.

• Proven ability to execute projects promptly.

• Strong leadership qualities and decision-making skills.

• Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Open to and comfortable with change.

• Proficient in MS Office applications.

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Food, Agricultural, or a closely related Engineering discipline.
