This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead the team dedicated to safeguarding Shakepay’s platform and customers against fraud, abuse, and financial risk while promoting scalable growth and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
• Take charge of workload management within fraud operations, oversee team capacity, and plan the roadmap.
• Collaborate closely with data science to create scalable detection systems, experimentation frameworks, and strategies for risk decision-making.
• Serve as a growth catalyst by executing an effective risk management strategy that balances customer friction with fraud detection and operational complexity.
• Work in close partnership with our product teams to ensure that fraud and risk controls are integral to all product launches.
• Lead the risk technology strategy by collaborating with engineering and design to establish a detection framework that minimizes losses and safeguards our user base.
• Generate consistent and thorough fraud intelligence reports to enhance operational efficiency, optimize rules, and facilitate business communications.
• Create and enforce risk management policies and procedures that streamline operations across functions.
• Expand fraud operations by dismantling silos across existing and future financial services products while maintaining strong collaboration with our operations, customer support, and compliance teams.
• Promote enhancements in user experience concerning fraud and security controls throughout the customer journey.
• Manage vendor relationships, ensuring cost-effective procurement and high-quality service.
• Foster accountability within your team, lead by example, and cultivate a high-performance culture.
• 5+ years of full-time experience in risk management within a fintech organization.
• Familiarity with industry fraud prevention tools and technologies.
• Experience in establishing and scaling risk technology operations in a high-growth setting.
• Strong judgment in balancing automation, controls, and the customer experience.
• Exceptional ability to build and maintain vendor relationships and senior stakeholder partnerships across the organization.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with a commitment to developing high-performing teams.
• Strong collaboration skills with technical teams, including engineering, data, and product.
• Proven ability to cultivate a data-driven culture.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-evolving environment.
• Quantitative background in data, statistics, mathematics, or related fields. (Asset)
• Experience with machine learning, particularly in a risk management context. (Asset)
• Previous experience in consumer banking. (Asset)
