Senior Network Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and implement enterprise-level networking appliances.

• Create and develop high-performance networking functionalities for enterprise-level devices.

• Engage with open-source data plane/fast path stacks such as VPP and DPDK.

• Lead technical projects and provide mentorship to team members.

• Take full ownership of features, delivering them independently and at scale.

• Collaborate across different functions and encourage knowledge sharing.

• Effectively communicate architectural decisions and design trade-offs, especially to senior stakeholders.

• Handle competing priorities with urgency, accountability, and a strong sense of ownership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Over 7 years of experience in constructing enterprise-level appliances or similar systems.

• Proficient in embedded software development using C/C++; experience with Python is advantageous.

• Solid understanding of DPDK-based traffic generators, like TRex; development experience is a significant plus.

• Extensive knowledge of L2–L4 networking and protocols, encompassing TCP/IP, UDP, ARP, DHCP, DNS, NAT, and firewalls.

• Experience with security protocols, such as IPsec and SSL/TLS.

• Knowledge of authentication and authorization processes.

• Practical experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN) and distributed systems.

• Familiarity with overlay and tunneling technologies.

• Strong fundamentals in software engineering and adherence to clean coding practices.

• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker.

• Experience with container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes.

• Proven track record of thriving in collaborative, startup-like settings.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Expertise in VPP, DPDK, or comparable open-source data plane/fast path stacks.

• Nice to have: experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, or Alibaba Cloud.

• Nice to have: familiarity with cloud-native architectures, DevOps practices, distributed computing and microservices, cross-domain knowledge and solution design, security-first strategies, and serverless architectures.
