Senior Network Site Reliability Engineer – NetSRE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Establish and take ownership of reliability objectives for network services and essential paths (SLIs/SLOs, availability targets, error budgets where applicable).

• Propel reliability enhancements throughout the entire network: encompassing not just services, but also site readiness, inter-site connectivity (DCI), and operational standards.

• Manage incident response in your designated areas, spearhead investigations/postmortems, and transform failures into enduring solutions (avoiding repetitive firefighting).

• Develop and enhance observability: creating actionable metrics/logs/traces, alerting systems, and expediting debug processes during and following incidents.

• Design secure change workflows: incorporating automation, CI/CD, testing/staging environments, canary deployments, rollbacks, and auditability for network modifications.

• Collaborate closely with network engineers and platform teams to integrate operability into designs, ensuring operations are efficient and swift.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid foundational knowledge of production Linux and a methodical approach to troubleshooting complex systems.

• Comprehensive understanding of networking fundamentals and the typical failure modes of real networks (control plane vs data plane, latency/loss, failure domains, etc.).

• Practical experience in managing high-availability systems and enhancing their performance over time (beyond merely maintaining operations).

• Proficiency in writing and maintaining software/automation (Go is preferred; Python is also appreciated).

• Familiarity with contemporary infrastructure tools (e.g., IaC, CI/CD, container platforms) and confidence in automating operational processes.
