This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Evaluate and interpret preliminary and functional design documentation for shipboard electrical, marine, control, and alarm and monitoring systems.
• Examine their compliance with commercial standards and safety protocols, with a specific focus on cyber security implications and integration of machinery control.
• Conduct write-ups and reviews of contractual specifications.
• Investigate and ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and commercial standards, including cyber security protocols and machinery control standards.
• Develop and supervise deliverables, quality assurance procedures, root cause failure analyses, and risk assessments for electrical and control systems on Navy vessels.
• Guarantee that cyber security measures are embedded in every facet of system design and execution.
• Compose technical reports regarding the evaluation of electrical and control systems on Navy vessels, emphasizing any cyber security vulnerabilities and proposing mitigation strategies.
• Be knowledgeable about commercial standards such as ABS MVR, ABS NVR, SOLAS, ASTM, ANSI, MIL-S901, Navy GSO, EPA, IEC, IEEE 45, etc., particularly regarding their relevance to cyber security and machinery controls.
• Execute engineering site visits and inspections at various Navy and Commercial Shipyards.
• Analyze electrical and control systems to ensure compliance with commercial and naval engineering requirements, including cyber security measures for electrical power systems, electromechanical systems, and control systems.
• Conduct electrical feasibility and trade-off studies for the selection of generators, motors, variable frequency drives, transformers, Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS), control panels, cables, timers, circuit breakers, power panels, batteries, relays, etc., with a focus on cyber security resilience and efficiency in machinery control.
• Collaborate with QA/review engineering mid-level, senior, and expert personnel to produce final technical outputs for electrical and control systems (e.g., Contract Deliverables, reports, etc.), ensuring incorporation of cyber security and best practices in machinery control.
• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Engineering (BSE/BE), BS/AS in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) or marine engineering; or a similar background and/or specialized training such as significant US Navy enlisted equivalency training with an Associate’s degree will be accepted in place of a Bachelor’s degree.
• US Citizen with the capability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
• 10-20 years of experience in US Naval Ship Engineering, either within NAVSEA/PEO Governmental Organizations, Shipyard Construction and Repair, Ship Operations (as a USCG Certified Officer or US Naval Officer), NAVSEA contractor support, or similar experience in electrical power systems.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills concerning complex technical issues.
• Ability to create graphical representations and PowerPoint presentations.
• Capability to efficiently research digital databases to provide essential findings and technical solutions for our clients.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical electrical documents (2D AutoCAD drawings, manuals, datasheets, cost estimations, reports, etc.).
• Strong analytical abilities.
• Willingness to travel 10% of the time.
• Ability to perform verification ship checks aboard MSC and Navy vessels.
