This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Develop and manage the machine learning infrastructure that ensures our AI systems are both reliable and adaptable, encompassing evaluation frameworks, prompt management, and model observability.
• Deliver customer-oriented AI features consistently, striking a balance between introducing new capabilities and enhancing foundational infrastructure.
• Establish and execute the team's strategy for evaluations, LLM routing, prompt engineering, and model selection.
• Create practical standards that enhance quality while maintaining team efficiency.
• Influence the technical direction of machine learning by actively identifying trade-offs and architectural alternatives, assisting the team in making well-informed decisions about the future of ML.
• Over 4 years of experience in machine learning or AI engineering, demonstrated by a history of delivering production-level ML systems.
• Strong practical knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering, evaluations, and model routing.
• Experience in developing tools and systems that significantly impact customers.
• Pragmatic in decision-making regarding trade-offs: understands when "good enough" is appropriate and avoids over-engineering; prefers to deliver a functional solution now rather than wait for a perfect design next quarter.
• Able to operate with moderate guidance in uncertain environments, capable of tackling scoped problems, and providing a completed solution.
• Considers the end user in the development process; recognizes how machine learning decisions affect actual customers and prioritizes customer value over technical sophistication.
• Supports teammates through code reviews, collaborative programming, and clear communication regarding technical choices.
