This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy offline 3D reconstruction, lane line detection, and automated mapping/map creation modules utilizing logged data from cameras, lidar, radar, and GPS/IMU sensors.
• Construct and enhance lane line annotation workflows with machine learning models to streamline and scale map generation.
• Create and optimize pose estimation algorithms for localization, sensor fusion, and 3D scene reconstruction.
• Lead project initiatives and mentor less experienced team members.
• Independently create offline perception and mapping models and algorithms following disciplined software development practices.
• Define and manage the ingestion, preparation, curation, and governance of extensive, multifaceted datasets.
• Evaluate capabilities and suggest enhancements that align with strategic goals and operational needs.
• Measure and monitor the quality of auto-labeling and map generation.
• Produce informational products that support data visualization and accessibility.
• Assess technological advancements that can enhance productivity, quality, flow times, and operational reliability.
• Develop guidelines and standards for machine learning models, their deployment, and related processes.
• Provide technical direction, leadership, coaching, and mentoring.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, typically supplemented by 6+ years of experience, OR a Master’s Degree in a similar technical area with 3+ years of experience.
• Proven experience in lane line annotation creation or automated mapping/map generation.
• Knowledge of lane line detection and creation machine learning models.
• Familiarity with pose estimation techniques.
• Experience with active learning, pseudo-labeling, computer vision, deep learning, and model training.
• Proficiency in at least two of the following: 2D/3D object detection, tracking, sensor fusion, semantic segmentation, SLAM, and BEV.
• Experience with scaled MLOps and associated tools, including ML frameworks, experiment tracking, model registry, MLflow, Weights and Biases, and ML metrics/evaluation/quality.
• Experience with distributed machine learning frameworks like PyTorch, Lightning, and Ray.
• Skills in model data curation and Parquet data processing using PyArrow, Daft, Pandas, or similar tools.
• Proficiency in Python software development.
• Familiarity with VDI and cloud-based development environments, CI systems such as GitHub Actions, and Docker.
• Ability to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment.
• Capacity to foster alignment, own technical solutions, build consensus, and mentor engineers.
• PPK/RTK GPS experience and GIS knowledge are advantageous qualifications.
