This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Assist clients in assessing and formulating mining solutions, which encompass mine access planning, selection of mining methods, strategies for mine development, and supporting infrastructure.
• Aid in the design of open pit mines, phase planning, and optimization to facilitate safe and efficient resource extraction.
• Execute waste dump designs, haul road designs, fleet evaluations, and equipment assessments to bolster mining operations.
• Formulate mine schedules and production plans under the mentorship of senior mining engineers.
• Contribute to the creation of capital and operating cost estimates to support engineering studies and project assessments.
• Collaborate with teams in mining, civil, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, environmental, and water resources engineering.
• Generate engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design packages for mining initiatives.
• Engage in interdisciplinary design reviews and assist in addressing technical challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
• Offer engineering assistance during field investigations, construction efforts, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting as necessary.
• Travel around 20% both domestically and internationally, including occasional extended assignments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering field.
• Over 4 years of pertinent experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• 6 years of progressive mining engineering experience with a focus on surface mining (preferred).
• Proficiency with mine planning software such as MineSight (MPSO), Deswik (Spatial-LHS-IS), Datamine (NPVS/Minemax), Vulcan, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with Whittle or other pit optimization software.
• Experience in supporting conceptual studies, prefeasibility studies, feasibility studies, or detailed engineering projects.
• Knowledge of open pit mine planning, production scheduling, haulage analysis, and equipment selection.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress towards Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is regarded as an asset (preferred).
