This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Create and refine concepts and designs for lunar landers, rovers, surface power systems, and spacecraft.
• Assist in generating technical content for mission opportunities and internal development initiatives.
• Conduct and evaluate system-level analysis and preliminary sizing of space systems.
• Develop and oversee spacecraft-level vehicle configurations in CAD, including structural analysis, packaging, and sizing from launch through surface operations.
• Design and build spacecraft structures for lunar landers, orbiters, and rovers.
• Carry out initial mechanical design and analysis of spacecraft structures and mechanisms.
• Evaluate deployment and offloading fixtures, stability and tip-over considerations, and terramechanics.
• Design and evaluate payload and subsystem accommodations within intricate spacecraft.
• Contribute to timelines, resource allocation, and budget forecasts.
• Collaborate with engineering disciplines, partners, customers, and vendors to address technical risks and obstacles.
• Occasionally participate in customer and partner visits as well as technical interchange meetings.
• Convert customer requirements into product objectives and system architectures for clients, proposals, and stakeholders.
• Lead and engage in cross-functional team meetings.
• Conduct trade studies to support technical, business, and programmatic decisions.
• Assist in shaping the system-level technical vision for new products across hardware and software domains.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 5–10 years of pertinent engineering experience.
• An advanced degree in a relevant field may be considered as a substitute for equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in the development of complex mechanical systems at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to perform preliminary structural analysis of space systems.
• Experience in one or more areas including space system development, systems engineering, structure/thermal design and analysis, mechanical and fluid systems, or manufacturing.
• Experience in crafting technical content for proposals and external presentations to customers.
• Proven ability to author and decompose mission and system-level requirements.
• Strong comprehension of launch, space, and lunar environments.
