
Senior Mechanical Engineer – Federal Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead or support the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for Department of Defense (DoD) and mission-critical facility projects.
• Provide construction administration services, which include reviewing shop drawings, evaluating RFIs, and assessing contractor change order proposals.
• Collaborate with senior team members to evaluate alternative design strategies.
• Conduct site visits and field assessments to evaluate existing conditions and equipment.
• Organize and manage projects to ensure adherence to quality controls, project specifications, and budget constraints.
• Develop proposals and deliver presentations to clients.
• Mentor junior staff within the Mechanical Department.
• Review and refine specifications.
• Engage and collaborate with a diverse range of clients and subcontractors.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Over 6 years of experience in the mechanical design of HVAC and plumbing systems, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to federal contract and security stipulations.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.
• Preferred: 10+ years of experience in mechanical design of HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is necessary.
• Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong presentation skills for showcasing designs to clients.
• Proficient in building load calculations and energy modeling.
• Expertise in plumbing system design, including sanitary, storm, and water distribution systems.
• Federal experience with NAVFAC, USACE, VAMC, DOD, or USAF is preferred.
• Additional industry certifications such as LEED AP, CxA, or CEM are preferred.
