
Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Vermont.
• Take the lead in mechanical design and act as the project manager for building systems projects, encompassing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Create and assess construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
• Ensure that designs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and client specifications (e.g., ASHRAE, local building regulations).
• Oversee project scope, timeline, and budgets for the projects assigned to you.
• Act as the main point of contact for specific projects, fostering and maintaining robust client relationships.
• Coordinate and manage multi-disciplinary design teams, which include internal civil, structural, and electrical personnel.
• Supervise construction administration tasks, such as reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits.
• Lead and engage in both internal and external project meetings, ensuring effective communication with clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Assist in proposal development, estimating levels of effort, and overall project planning.
• Guide junior engineers and contribute to the technical advancement of the mechanical team.
• A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection).
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
• Expertise in AutoCAD and Revit for MEP design.
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection, and relevant building codes and ASHRAE standards.
• Proven experience managing projects through both design and construction phases.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with BIM coordination tools is preferred.
