
Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Lead the mechanical design and act as the project manager for building systems projects, which include HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Create and review construction documentation, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
• Ensure that designs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and client specifications (e.g., ASHRAE, local building regulations).
• Manage the project scope, timelines, and budgets for assigned projects.
• Act as the principal point of contact for specific projects, fostering and maintaining robust client relationships.
• Coordinate and oversee multi-disciplinary design teams, including internal civil, structural, and electrical personnel.
• Supervise construction administration tasks, including the review of submittals, responses to RFIs, and conducting site visits.
• Lead and engage in both internal and external project meetings, ensuring clear communication with clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Assist in proposal development, estimating levels of effort, and project planning.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical development of the mechanical team.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit for MEP design.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection, as well as applicable building codes and ASHRAE standards.
• Experience in managing projects through both design and construction phases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with BIM coordination tools is preferred.
