Senior Mechanical Component Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Comprehend program requirements and Statements of Work (SOWs) to establish the environmental and characteristic application requirements of program components.

• Offer guidance on technology integration and parts selection/standardization while conforming to business, component parametric, and environmental application limitations.

• Create and update component drawings along with related verification data packages.

• Conduct investigations on alternative parts and produce comparison matrices highlighting the distinctions and similarities between the components.

• Collaborate with various internal stakeholders and external suppliers/manufacturers to outline component risk and verification delineation.

• Streamline component selection and library applications by coordinating and generating the program Bill of Material (BOM) using a collaborative toolset.

• Present findings on component standardization, design library, obsolescence management, and termination finish risk during design reviews for a program.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

• Proficiency with interconnect devices, fasteners, or other mechanical-based components.

• Familiarity with component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for use in military and aerospace flight applications.

• Understanding of Component MIL and industrial (SAE, NAS, ASME, ASTM) specifications and standards, test specifications, as well as related QPLs and QMLs.

• Experience in the development and management of BOM (Bill of Material) for both developmental and production programs.
