This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Creating detailed commissioning proposals and scope documents based on client RFPs, design blueprints, and specifications while facilitating pre-commissioning planning meetings with stakeholders.
• Overseeing and executing comprehensive factory and onsite commissioning activities (Level 0 – Level 6) for mechanical and control systems infrastructure.
• Carrying out thorough commissioning of mission-critical systems, which include CRAH units, chilled water plants, central cooling plants, dry coolers, liquid cooling systems, advanced server rack containment strategies, and related controls and monitoring systems.
• Developing system-specific functional performance tests and integrated systems testing protocols that comply with industry standards (ASHRAE Guideline 0 or similar).
• Formulating commissioning plans, test procedures, and detailed final reports while documenting deficiencies using structured tracking systems and managing resolution until substantial completion.
• Leading cross-functional commissioning teams of 2-8+ engineers and technicians while liaising with project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle from the design phase to the transition to operations.
• Providing commissioning training for the Owner's operations staff and delivering knowledge transfer documentation on larger projects.
• Managing commissioning timelines, ensuring effective team utilization, identifying potential failure modes, and developing mitigation plans.
• Analyzing project drawings and specifications, pinpointing design issues, and effectively communicating technical concerns to clients and project teams.
• A minimum of 7 years of documented experience in leading hands-on data center commissioning activities.
• At least 5 years specifically focused on data center cooling systems and building monitoring and automation commissioning.
• Proven ability in leading mechanical and controls commissioning of facilities with power densities exceeding 25kW per rack.
• In-depth understanding of cooling plant sequences of operations, redundancy concepts, and their application in mission-critical designs.
• Experience collaborating with major cooling equipment manufacturers (JCI, Daikin, Trane, Vertiv, Schneider, etc.).
• Proficiency in using commissioning management software platforms (CxAlloy, ACC, Procore, Bluebeam, and similar tools).
• Advanced knowledge of commissioning processes for data center cooling infrastructure and building monitoring and controls platforms.
• Expertise in precision HVAC systems, glycol cooling, and thermal management strategies, including liquid cooling applications.
• Solid understanding of BAS/DCIM integration, monitoring protocols, and alarm management protocols.
• Willingness to travel 50% annually across North America and work in active construction environments, including climbing ladders and working in mechanical/electrical rooms, with availability for occasional emergency commissioning support and weekend/evening critical testing activities.
• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license and PMP certifications (preferred).
• Industry-recognized commissioning certification (currently or pursuing) (preferred).
• Experience with hyperscale data center projects (AWS, Microsoft, Google, Meta, etc.) (preferred).
