Senior Managing Editor, Content and Test Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver strategic and operational leadership for teams involved in assessment content and production editorial work.

• Responsible for maintaining editorial excellence throughout the entire assessment lifecycle—from item creation to final production.

• Guide, mentor, and cultivate a multidisciplinary group of editors focused on assessment content and production.

• Supervise the editorial review process for test items, passages, graphics, manuals, and technical documents.

• Manage production editing for both paper-based and digital resources: test books, ancillary materials, reports, and operational documents.

• Spearhead the thoughtful integration of AI tools for copyediting, style adherence, and quality assurance while upholding human editorial judgment.

• Create scalable workflows that accommodate high-volume, simultaneous deadlines; monitor quality and turnaround metrics to foster continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related discipline.

• Over 15 years of professional editing experience, particularly in educational assessment, test development, or complex technical publishing.

• Proven experience in managing people within fast-paced, deadline-oriented environments.

• Exceptional knowledge of Chicago, APA, and AP style; experience in editing assessment items, technical reports, and high-stakes testing content.

• Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools aimed at enhancing editorial workflows.

• Strong skills in organization, communication, and decision-making.
