Senior Managing Counsel, Medical Network

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Oversee a team of attorneys dedicated to supporting U.S. medical network contracting.

• Serve as the primary legal counsel for provider relationships, strategy, and support initiatives.

• Assist business partners in crafting and implementing strategic initiatives and key projects that affect the medical network.

• Collaborate with cross-functional legal teams on network products and solutions.

• Build robust business relationships with stakeholders involved in Cigna’s provider connections.

• Provide top-notch legal support to essential internal clients.

• Negotiate provider contracts, including value-based reimbursement agreements and delegation contracts.

• Stay informed about the regulatory and enforcement landscape impacting the business.

• Support the business in establishing measures to enhance contracting governance and execution.

• Act as a strategic advisor to the business team and enterprise colleagues regarding the implications of proposed and new rules, regulations, and legislation affecting the provider network.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and an active bar membership is mandatory.

• A minimum of 10 years of legal experience within a corporate legal department and/or law firm.

• At least 3 years of experience in leading, managing, and developing attorneys and legal teams.

• Extensive experience in supporting provider contracting, maintaining provider relationships, and developing network strategies within the managed care, health insurance, or healthcare sector.

• In-depth understanding of federal and state healthcare laws, regulations, and government healthcare programs.

• Proven experience in negotiating and drafting intricate provider agreements, including arrangements for value-based reimbursement and delegation.

• Demonstrated ability to counsel senior leaders on legal, regulatory, and business strategy issues.
