This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise and evaluate U.S. Statutory (NAIC), U.S. GAAP, regulatory, tax, and/or Board accounting and financial reporting for the Separate Accounts of the Insurance Company, its subsidiaries, and affiliates.
• Lead a team responsible for preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual statutory NAIC state financial reports, supplements, annual audited financial statements, and VSA accounting.
• Oversee the investment presentation included in quarterly financial statements.
• Assist leadership in analyzing business results to ensure the necessary accounting procedures are executed accurately.
• Manage the design and execution of accounting and financial reporting controls.
• Sustain an effective control environment by addressing and resolving control compliance issues.
• Investigate and recommend new disclosures and report modifications in response to updated pronouncements, guidelines, and investment types.
• Interpret new pronouncements and guidelines concerning U.S. Statutory, U.S. GAAP, and regulatory accounting/reporting effects.
• Suggest modifications to accounting systems and information presentation.
• Supervise process enhancements, system upgrades, new processes, and project rollouts.
• Manage investment audits and clarify the Company’s stance.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in public accounting or investment-related financial reporting.
• A minimum of 7 years of financial reporting experience is required.
• CPA license is preferred.
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. Statutory (NAIC) and/or GAAP accounting principles.
• Previous experience in investments is strongly preferred.
• Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
• Ability to apply creative thinking to enhance business processes and internal controls, along with follow-through from design to implementation.
• Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and excellent organizational abilities with the capacity to manage and prioritize multiple and competing tasks.
• Self-motivated with the capacity to navigate ambiguity, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially advanced Excel skills.
• A mindset focused on process improvement.
• Experience with Alteryx and Wings annual statement software is a plus.
