Senior Manager, Structural Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Supervise the structural analysis and design of foundations (including driven piles, screw and helical piles, and cast-in-place concrete), overhead steel structures, building envelopes, and non-building structures across a range of projects.

• Ensure uniform application of codes and standards — ASCE 7, IBC, NESC, ASCE 113, IEEE 693, and NFPA — throughout the team’s efforts.

• Promote compliance with relevant Client, EPC, Owner, and Utility standards across the team.

• Manage the coordination of specifications and contract requirements with project managers and client representatives from the initial design phase through to construction, emphasizing constructability.

• Oversee the distribution of workloads among larger design teams and ensure consistent adherence to technical standards across various projects.

• Guarantee that designers and the civil design team collaborate effectively on drawings, details, and foundation bills of material (BOMs) across extensive project areas.

• Encourage the effective application of engineering software (Excel, RISA, LPILE, and Trimble products) and design automation (VBA and Python) across the team.

• Cultivate and mentor team members, manage performance, and maintain quality and technical standards throughout the group.

• Assist in business development, resource management, and proposal creation for the structural subdiscipline.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; a master’s degree is preferred.

• Over 12 years of experience in structural engineering, including leadership in teams or projects. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; SE is preferred.

• In-depth expertise in structural analysis and design, along with the relevant codes and standards.

• Experience in managing the workloads of larger design teams and ensuring compliance with technical standards across various projects.

• Proficiency in structural and foundation software (RISA, LPILE), Trimble products, Excel, and design automation (VBA/Python).
