This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +12 more states.
• Act as a subject matter expert in specialty pharmacy, converting concepts related to specialty pharmacy, limited distribution drugs, REMS, site-of-care, access, reimbursement, and network strategies into practical recommendations.
• Engage in client meetings, quarterly business reviews, RFP support, and presentations as the expert on specialty provider networks.
• Provide guidance on specialty network initiatives that align with client objectives, identify lowest-net-cost opportunities, facilitate member access, and support organizational strategies.
• Supervise the processes, procedures, and service standards for specialty client support.
• Lead the resolution of escalated issues in specialty pharmacy regarding network access, reimbursement, formulary, contracts, and member concerns.
• Oversee specialty pharmacy client initiatives from concept development through implementation and continuous improvement.
• Create and maintain project plans, policies, procedures, work instructions, and scalable workflows.
• Assist in the ongoing management of specialty pharmacy contracts.
• Analyze reimbursement pricing structures, network performance, vendor capabilities, market competitiveness, and industry trends.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to enhance network partnerships and pharmacy services.
• Ensure that initiatives and implementation processes comply with corporate, compliance, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial, exchange, and state regulatory requirements.
• Supervise specialty client support staff, including recruitment, performance management, prioritization of workload, and professional growth.
• Implement departmental strategic initiatives and lead continuous improvement projects.
• Participate in and support compliance, people and culture, and learning initiatives.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
• A PharmD degree or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy is required.
• An active, unrestricted license as a Registered Pharmacist in the state of residence is required, or the candidate must be able to obtain reciprocity within four months, depending on state laws or client contracts.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience as a licensed Pharmacist is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in leading and mentoring staff is required.
• A preference for candidates with 1 or more years of experience in PBM or Managed Care.
• Required experience with specialty pharmacy drugs, including best practices related to REMS and Limited Distribution Products.
• Previous experience in managing vendors or accounts is preferred.
• Product management, development, or related experience is preferred.
• Clinical experience in specialty pharmacy is strongly preferred.
• Experience in the health, biomedical, or pharmaceutical sectors is preferred.
• Familiarity with CMS, Medicare, and state Medicaid regulations and guidelines is preferred.
• A combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to the employment standard may qualify.
