• Lead, mentor, and enhance a product and engineering team responsible for NerdWallet’s Advisory systems, which include the lead generation marketplace, content, and top-of-funnel activities.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and other cross-functional stakeholders to strategize, prioritize, and implement the product roadmap.
• Ensure consistent application of software development best practices, including code quality, testing, documentation, and operational excellence.
• Contribute to and direct technical and architectural decisions, ensuring that solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, and compliant with SEC regulatory standards.
• Maintain a balance between platform evolution and stability for high-traffic, mission-critical systems.
• Oversee sprint planning, project timelines, and delivery commitments to guarantee predictable and high-quality execution.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges, addressing them proactively and escalating when necessary.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and psychological safety.
• Assist in hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development for engineers and product professionals at various levels.
• Ensure that systems managed by the team meet availability, performance, and security standards.
• 8+ years of pertinent software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a managerial role overseeing an engineering team.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering production software within a complex and fast-paced environment.
• Proven track record of owning and leading multiple simultaneous initiatives across various business domains.
• Strong understanding of the software development life cycle, agile methodologies, and contemporary engineering practices.
• Solid technical foundation with experience in designing and building scalable, reliable, and secure systems.
• Proficient in NextJS, AWS, and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with security best practices, data privacy, and compliance considerations in financial systems.
• Demonstrated capability to coach, mentor, and support engineers at different levels through clear, actionable feedback.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proven capacity to manage and deliver complex engineering projects on schedule and at scale.
