This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead a team of software engineers by overseeing hiring, onboarding, performance evaluation, input on compensation, promotion readiness, and career advancement.
• Establish clear expectations, provide prompt feedback, and foster an inclusive and accountable team culture that empowers engineers to undertake high-impact projects and grow professionally.
• Mentor engineers in execution, teamwork, ownership, technical judgment, and effective stakeholder communication.
• Define roles, ownership boundaries, and decision-making processes to enable the team to operate swiftly while maintaining quality and alignment.
• Take responsibility for delivery, quality, operational readiness, and predictability of the team's commitments.
• Convert product and engineering strategies into actionable plans, objectives, milestones, and measurable results.
• Manage team capacity, execution risks, dependencies, and trade-offs; proactively escalate issues when scope, timing, or quality are jeopardized.
• Uphold strong engineering practices across planning, estimation, retrospectives, incident follow-ups, quality assurance, and technical debt management.
• Offer tactical technical oversight and guidance, including reviewing designs, implementation strategies, and operational aspects for quality, maintainability, scalability, and adherence to engineering standards.
• Collaborate closely with senior engineers and architects on technical decisions, trade-offs, sequencing, and execution strategies.
• Cultivate strong working relationships with product managers, program managers, security, SRE, support, and other cross-functional partners through effective communication and consistent execution.
• Communicate team progress, risks, decisions, and resourcing requirements to senior leadership while advocating for the necessary support to deliver successfully.
• Prior experience in people management, directly overseeing software engineers.
• 3–5+ years of experience leading the delivery of complex, multi-system engineering initiatives, ideally in SaaS, cloud platforms, distributed systems, or enterprise software settings.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven track record as a senior software engineer, technical lead, or engineering manager, possessing sufficient technical depth to build trust and guide trade-offs.
• Demonstrated capability to deliver high-quality software through a team, balancing scope, schedule, quality, reliability, and operational supportability.
• Strong leadership skills in coaching, delivering feedback, performance management, career development, and building accountable teams.
• Solid technical expertise relevant to backend services, APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or platform-oriented engineering work.
• Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and execute within a defined team scope while navigating ambiguity, dependencies, and shifting business priorities.
• Strong skills in cross-functional collaboration and aligning engineering delivery with product priorities and overarching platform strategy.
• Experience enhancing engineering practices such as planning, estimation, design reviews, incident response, observability, testing, and technical debt management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize progress, risks, trade-offs, and decisions for both technical teams and senior stakeholders.
