Engineering Director, Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead the secure-by-design initiative, shifting the focus from reactive security measures to proactive architectural principles.

• Mitigate systemic risk by pinpointing fundamental, overarching security issues and spearheading significant engineering enhancements to address them at their core.

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate a robust security culture into Monzo’s product development workflow.

• Promote an engineering-centric culture by nurturing security engineers as integral members of the software engineering team.

• Oversee a high-performing team of engineering leaders and senior individual contributors.

• Work alongside engineering managers and leaders to shape company-wide security best practices and standards.

• Establish a strong partnership with the CISO, CTO, and Product leaders to provide guidance on the long-term sustainability of the business.

• Architectural authority: You have the technical expertise to comprehend and challenge intricate engineering decisions.

• Proven leadership: You possess a successful history of managing engineering teams of 30–50 members within a fast-paced, high-caliber tech environment.

• Software engineering experience: Your career likely began with roles as a Senior or Staff Engineer.

• Outcome-driven: You focus on high-impact work rather than adhering to processes for their own sake.
