Senior Manager, Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Build and lead high-performing teams that excel in their performance.

• Provide technical guidance for software development engineers, both on-site and remotely.

• Take ownership of the technical design, architecture, and implementation of genomics tertiary analysis software.

• Collaborate with team leads from other products to identify commonalities and promote standardization and efficiencies.

• Work closely with third-party vendors to ensure that the overall solution aligns with business needs.

• Advocate for the implementation of best engineering practices.

• Manage and contribute to release planning and management for the team's software applications.

• Oversee multiple simultaneous projects.

• Collaborate with project managers to understand requirements and establish timelines.

• Communicate any issues and risks to project managers effectively.

• Mentor team members in their career development.

• Build and sustain strong working relationships with stakeholders.

• Provide constructive feedback to management and initiate changes to enhance software development processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or equivalent industry experience.

• A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated success in building and managing high-performing engineering teams.

• Extensive background in developing genomics tertiary analysis software for clinical and research applications.

• At least 8 years of experience in software development using Java or a similar programming language.

• Familiarity with software development in a regulated environment.

• Experience and aptitude for leading remote teams effectively.
