This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the execution and delivery of one or more product areas, ensuring that commitments are fulfilled with high quality (30%)
• Strategically plan and organize work to implement the established product and technology strategy within the team's scope (15%)
• Manage and nurture engineers through coaching, constructive feedback, and performance management (15%)
• Lead team-level and cross-team initiatives, focusing on targeted process enhancements (15%)
• Collaborate with vendors and partners to ensure effective integration and successful delivery (10%)
• Monitor operational health and execution risks, escalating issues as necessary (10%)
• Work closely with product counterparts to align on priorities, scope, and delivery expectations (5%)
• Convert strategic direction into actionable initiatives for the team, breaking down objectives into deliverable workstreams while ensuring teams comprehend both the what and the why.
• Offer technical guidance across the product area, evaluating architecture, questioning design decisions, and establishing standards for code quality, scalability, observability, and operational resilience.
• Maintain a high standard for engineering rigor and hold teams accountable consistently, while promoting psychological safety and open communication.
• Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and delivery gaps, escalating tradeoffs early when scope, timelines, or cross-team commitments are in question.
• Recognize workflow inefficiencies and drive specific process improvements to enhance predictability, quality, and overall team effectiveness.
• Support legal and regulatory compliance by identifying risks during execution and ensuring adherence to established policies.
• A bachelor's degree is typically required; however, significant related experience may be considered in place of a degree
• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering and delivery across multiple systems
• At least 2 years of formal supervisory experience
• More than 5 years of ownership in team delivery and execution
• Proven success in technology-forward or digital-first organizations is strongly preferred
• Technical expertise and credibility in modern web and cloud-native systems including React/TypeScript frontends, Node.js services, event-driven and API/microservices architectures, and AWS
• Leadership in multi-squad execution, including planning, sequencing, and balancing competing demands, coordinating cross-team dependencies, and ensuring predictable delivery without causing disruption
• People leadership and talent development experience, including managing senior engineers and emerging leaders, establishing clear performance expectations, and cultivating high-agency, accountable teams
• Disciplined execution and continuous improvement with a demonstrated history of elevating engineering standards, delivery predictability, operational maturity, on-call effectiveness, and incident response rigor
• Exceptional stakeholder communication and influence across product, design, and business partners, with the capability to translate strategy into execution and articulate execution realities back into clear, actionable tradeoffs.
