Senior Manager, R&D Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Execute month-end clinical and R&D accrual analyses, which include reviewing CRO reports, patient expenses, site accruals, and clinical manufacturing accruals, while ensuring adherence to US GAAP and company guidelines.

• Generate corresponding monthly journal entries along with related supporting documentation.

• Conduct monthly account reconciliations for clinical and associated prepaid/accrued expenses.

• Perform variance analysis and deliver insights into financial performance, emphasizing significant trends and potential risks.

• Examine contracts and amendments to evaluate their impact on clinical accruals.

• Uphold SOX controls for the areas of responsibility assigned.

• Assist in fulfilling internal and external reporting obligations to guarantee timely and accurate financial reports for management, investors, and regulatory compliance.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Operations, Manufacturing, Research, FP&A, and various business stakeholders.

• Partner with external CROs and clinical/manufacturing vendors to ensure precise accounting of accruals.

• Help provide necessary documentation and explanations regarding R&D accounting for the annual audit to our external auditors.

• Adopt a continuous improvement approach by identifying opportunities to refine accounting processes and systems.

• Offer support as required for special projects, system enhancements, or ad-hoc requests.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

• Certified Public Accountant license is preferred.

• Over 5 years of experience in Biotech, with at least 2 years concentrating on clinical trial accrual accounting.

• Strong grasp of US GAAP, SOX controls, and the financial close and reporting process.

• Proficient in financial software and ERP systems; familiarity with NetSuite and Coupa is a plus.

• Highly skilled in the Microsoft Office suite.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.

• High integrity, meticulous attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, and capability to manage multiple priorities.
