Senior Manager, New Partner Compensation Programs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and diagnose existing seller compensation strategies.

• Collaborate with Partner Development, Finance, People, and Legal during due diligence and deal structuring to create aligned compensation strategies.

• Model compensation scenarios and effectively communicate trade-offs and considerations.

• Ensure that compensation commitments made during negotiations are intentional, documented, and operationally viable post-close.

• Own and uphold transparent, scalable compensation frameworks for M&A, including standard models, transition strategies, and exception criteria.

• Establish governance for custom arrangements, including tracking, sunset provisions, and conversion to standard plans.

• Develop repeatable playbooks, tools, and documentation utilized by deal teams, People Partners, Rewards, and Finance.

• Create clear educational materials for new partners detailing Mercer’s compensation philosophy, programs, and expectations over time.

• Translate specific compensation commitments into Mercer’s compensation cycle.

• Manage phased transitions, including multi-year or multi-cycle changes.

• Ensure accuracy and alignment among Compensation, Legal, and Finance teams.

• Act as the escalation lead for M&A compensation issues post-close.

• Maintain a centralized, dynamic repository of all M&A compensation commitments.

• Serve as the definitive source for historical M&A compensation decisions.

• Develop and sustain extensive industry expertise in wealth management compensation practices, including advisor, partner, and leadership pay structures.

• Engage directly with sellers, acting as a credible and trusted partner.

• Embody Mercer’s culture of collaboration, professionalism, and long-term partnership in all seller interactions.

• Collaborate seamlessly internally, presenting a unified and cooperative front to sellers.

• Strong business acumen combined with compensation expertise.

• Robust financial modeling and analytical abilities.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making trade-offs.

• High emotional intelligence and strong executive presence, capable of building trust and credibility with senior stakeholders in critical situations.

• Ability to simplify complex topics and communicate them clearly.

• Experience in M&A or Corporate Development settings.

• Financial Services or Wealth Management experience is preferred.
