• Create and uphold a risk-rated, ongoing 18-month roadmap for all Controllers programs — organized by control risk, efficiency impact, and strategic priority, rather than merely what is most pressing this quarter.
• Establish a consistent framework for prioritization that quantifies the cost of inaction: control exposure, manual labor, audit risk, and headcount expenses, ensuring that investment choices are based on accurate data.
• Present the roadmap and investment proposals to Finance leadership, articulating a clear perspective and trade-offs involved.
• Facilitate and document discovery sessions with Controller teams to uncover operational liabilities, process deficiencies, and control weaknesses.
• Assess operational liabilities across Controllers and create scalable workflows that integrate controls and automation.
• Manage the complete program delivery from scoping to go-live, leading requirements gathering, UAT, operational rollout, training, and change management to guarantee that benefits are fully realized.
• Act as the Finance counterpart to Enterprise Systems (IT), consolidating and prioritizing the Controllers' requests into structured, well-defined proposals for Engineering and IT to address.
• Advocate for and secure Engineering and IT resources for Finance-critical initiatives, crafting the business case, managing relationships, and ensuring accountability for delivery.
• Identify automation and AI opportunities across Finance workflows and collaborate with our internal AI Builder to define and implement solutions.
• Keep FP&A and Treasury colleagues updated on roadmap advancement and investment priorities, ensuring alignment across shared systems infrastructure.
• Serve as the main Finance owner for Controllers systems — including NetSuite, Workiva, FloQast, Zip, Float, and AuditBoard — ensuring they are well-governed, appropriate for their intended use, and continuously enhancing.
• Act as the escalation point for complex Finance systems challenges, providing guidance and resolution.
• Extensive knowledge of Finance — you comprehend how AP, procurement, month-end close, reporting, and tax processes function, and how system modifications affect controls and financials.
• Over 7 years of experience in Finance systems, Finance operations, or program delivery — preferably in a fintech or high-growth environment with strong governance, audit readiness, and institutional reporting standards.
• Practical experience with enterprise Finance systems; familiarity with NetSuite, Workiva, FloQast, or similar platforms is highly beneficial. You don’t need to be a developer — just enough knowledge to ask the right questions and hold IT accountable.
• Ability to develop cases that Finance leadership can rigorously evaluate, entering every discussion with a recommendation rather than just a status update.
• Demonstrated capability to build trust across Finance teams — colleagues seek you out because they recognize you as the expert who understands their challenges and can assist in addressing the right issues.
• Exceptional communication skills — you can convert operational details into executive-level insights, strategies, and ROI/trade-offs.
• CPA, PMP, or equivalent professional certification is an advantage, but not mandatory.
• Comprehensive health benefits and life insurance
• Long-term group savings with employer matching, through Wealthsimple for Business
• 20 vacation days, 4 wellness days, and unlimited sick and mental health days annually
• 90 days away: ability to work outside Canada for up to 90 days each year
• Employee resource groups, including Rainbow (2SLGBTQ), Women of WS, and Black at WS
