Senior Manager, Data Science – Gen AI, Content Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Establish the vision and strategic goals for Data Science throughout the content ecosystem.

• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers.

• Propel applied research from rapid prototyping to full production deployment.

• Develop and enhance offline evaluation frameworks, benchmarking pipelines, and human-in-the-loop feedback systems.

• Collaborate with Data Science teams to optimize the reuse of components and patterns.

• Define and implement the AI roadmap across the content lifecycle.

• Design and launch production-grade AI systems, including LLM document understanding, agentic workflows, RAG pipelines, and hybrid ML/rules systems.

• Write code, construct and showcase prototypes, and actively contribute to experiments and production models.

• Establish best practices for model development, evaluation, monitoring, prompt engineering, data preparation, and feature engineering.

• Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and product leaders to incorporate AI into distributed systems, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Transform ambiguous challenges into actionable project plans and guide teams through successful delivery.

• Mentor and develop multidisciplinary data scientists and ML engineers focused on LLM.

• Foster collaboration with Legal SMEs, Data Engineers, Product Managers, and Design teams.

• Manage infrastructure for continuous delivery and monitoring of LLM systems in production.

⛳️ Requirements

• An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field is strongly preferred, or equivalent practical experience.

• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with substantial applied experience in data science, machine learning, or AI.

• Over 8 years of relevant experience in data science, machine learning, or applied AI.

• More than 4 years of leadership experience with direct or indirect team management.

• Proven impact, technical expertise, and leadership abilities.

• Capability to select suitable tools and technologies for business challenges.

• Proficiency in Python.

• Familiarity with Google ADK, LangChain, ML frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch, and prompt tuning techniques.

• Understanding of vector databases, knowledge graphs, and hybrid retrieval architecture.

• Experience handling structured and unstructured data at scale.

• Skills in designing and implementing data pipelines and preparation workflows.

• Experience integrating ML into complex, multi-stage processing systems.

• Knowledge of containerization, CI/CD, RESTful API design, and model serving tools.

• Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Familiarity with AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and OpenAI Codex.

• At least 8 years of post-degree experience, including over 4 years in a data science or applied AI leadership role with a focus on NLP/LLM systems.

• Prior experience in legal tech, legal AI, or document-heavy domains is highly desirable.

• Awareness of ethical and legal considerations in professional generative AI implementations.
