This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Oversee and direct intricate federal, state, and local tax compliance projects for corporate clients, which include consolidated groups and multinational entities.
• Examine intricate tax returns, workpapers, estimates, extensions, and associated filings to ensure technical precision, high quality, and timely execution.
• Lead and assess quarterly and annual income tax provisions (ASC 740), which involves deferred tax analysis, valuation allowance evaluation, uncertain tax position documentation, and effective tax rate reconciliation.
• Investigate and interpret complex tax statutes, regulations, rulings, and guidance; create technical memoranda and convey findings to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Deliver proactive tax planning and advisory services to assist clients in managing their tax responsibilities, discovering opportunities, and mitigating risks.
• Act as the primary liaison for clients on assigned engagements, fostering strong relationships and providing responsive, high-quality service.
• Oversee engagement budgets, timelines, staffing, billing, realization, and overall profitability.
• Supervise, train, mentor, and review the contributions of tax associates, seniors, and managers; offer timely coaching and performance feedback.
• Collaborate with partners and leadership on client strategies, technical issues, service opportunities, and practice growth initiatives.
• Assist with tax notice responses, examinations, and dispute matters, including communication with tax authorities as necessary.
• Stay updated on tax law modifications and industry trends, communicating relevant impacts to clients and team members.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related discipline.
• CPA license is mandatory; JD, LLM in Taxation, or Enrolled Agent credentials may be considered based on the scope of the role.
• Typically 7+ years of advanced tax experience, ideally within a public accounting or professional services environment.
• Proven experience in reviewing complex tax returns and managing multiple client engagements.
• Strong technical expertise in federal and state tax compliance, tax planning, and relevant tax regulations.
• Demonstrated proficiency in ASC 740 income tax accounting and US GAAP as applied to corporate clients, with hands-on experience in preparing or reviewing income tax provisions.
• Experience in supervising, mentoring, and developing tax professionals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly explaining complex tax concepts to clients and team members.
• Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle competing deadlines while ensuring attention to detail and maintaining high-quality standards.
• Experience with tax provision software (e.g., OneSource, Corptax) is preferred.
