This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Oversee comprehensive accounting operations for a portfolio of clients in government contracting, acting as the main point of contact to ensure precise, timely, and compliant service delivery.
• Work in partnership with CFO Advisors to assist clients in comprehending their financial outcomes and strategizing for growth.
• Management and Development of Staff
• Offer mentoring and personalized training to individual team members.
• Be accessible to respond to inquiries and provide solutions as necessary.
• Deliver feedback (both positive and constructive) to partners and directors regarding staff performance.
• Contribute to cultivating a collaborative team atmosphere.
• Oversee daily outsourced accounting operations for designated government contracting clients.
• Manage project timelines, accounting deliverables, and month-end closing processes.
• Supervise audits and reviews (DCAA, CPA, incurred cost submissions, etc.).
• Develop and oversee indirect rate structures, budgets, forecasts, and cost submissions.
• Prepare and assess monthly financial statements, including variance and trend analyses.
• Identify and address accounting, system, and procedural issues.
• Create clear, client-ready summaries of results, forecasts, and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with CEOs and leadership teams on financial decision-making and scenario analysis alongside CFO Advisors.
• Manage responsibilities with minimal oversight, demonstrating sound judgment and initiative.
• Review and monitor the work of support staff to ensure precision and quality.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably within the government contracting sector.
• Previous experience working for or with government contractors.
• Hands-on experience with Unanet, Costpoint, QuickBooks, or comparable job-cost accounting software (mandatory).
• Strong proficiency in general ledger accounting, job costing, and GAAP principles.
• Familiarity with FAR regulations, DCAA compliance, and indirect rate structures.
• Experience managing audits and liaising with external auditors.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
• Strong project management and organizational capabilities.
• Exceptional communication and client-service skills — capable of translating numerical data into actionable insights.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to supervise, review, and ensure the quality of work conducted by others.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
