This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee and nurture a team of 3 or more accountants by establishing priorities, evaluating their work, providing constructive feedback, and mentoring them in technical accounting and process enhancements.
• Take the initiative in automating accounting processes utilizing AI and LLMs (such as journal entry preparation, reconciliations, flux analysis, and audit support), while guiding the team in the responsible use of these tools.
• Manage the complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring that journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and account analyses are accurate, thorough, and submitted punctually.
• Review and authorize journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analyses created by the team.
• Lead research on technical accounting and policy establishment under US GAAP, including the documentation of accounting positions and memos for intricate transactions.
• Facilitate the annual audit by coordinating PBC requests and responses within the team, collaborating closely with the Assistant Controller, who acts as the primary liaison for external auditors.
• Collaborate with the People team to manage payroll accounting and reconciliations, as well as work with cross-functional teams (Finance, Data, Engineering, Product) to enhance accounting operations.
• Champion process improvements and automation projects throughout the accounting function, utilizing tools such as Netsuite, Workday, and Ramp to minimize manual labor and strengthen controls.
• Lead or support strategic accounting initiatives, coordinating with cross-functional partners to achieve measurable business outcomes.
• Over 10 years of accounting and/or audit experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial capacity.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA certification preferred but not essential).
• Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP and experience in leading month-end close processes in a rapidly growing environment.
• Experience in public accounting (Big 4 or large firm) and/or in-house roles at high-growth or pre-IPO companies.
• Proven experience utilizing LLMs, such as Claude, to automate workflows.
• A demonstrated history of mentoring and developing accounting professionals.
• Practical experience with Netsuite (and preferably Numeric and Ramp), with a strong inclination towards leveraging technology for scaling accounting operations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of influencing senior stakeholders and collaborating effectively across various functions.
