This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Direct all general accounting functions related to operating expenses, capital expenditures, internal payroll and benefits costs, as well as associated balance sheet accounts.
• Oversee accounting and standalone reporting for the CCFS lending business and Open Health trust.
• Review account reconciliations and enhance workflows for reconciliation, reporting, and closing timelines.
• Maintain the internal control environment while leading the assessment and remediation of control documentation.
• Deliver comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial reports, including variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and previous performance.
• Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management.
• Support the annual 401(k) audit, tax-related audits, external financial statement audit, and quarterly internal compliance reviews.
• Manage regulatory compliance filings, including Census, Department of Labor, and Canadian Statistics Surveys.
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Accounting, Finance, Systems, and Technology teams.
• Partner on system enhancements, integrations, and automation initiatives.
• Champion continuous improvement and identify opportunities for automation.
• Establish, document, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in line with GAAP.
• Lead, coach, and develop a geographically distributed accounting team.
• Drive strategic hiring, goal setting, performance management, and professional development.
• Lead special projects and ad hoc initiatives.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive, comprehensive accounting and finance experience.
• At least 3 years in a management position.
• Experience in a complex, multi-entity organization is strongly preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong systems experience, including large enterprise financial systems and business intelligence tools.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle products is preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with technology teams on system enhancements, integrations, and process automation.
• Proficiency in Excel, including IF Statements, Macros, Pivots, and VLOOKUP.
• High attention to detail.
• Strong organizational abilities and capacity to manage competing priorities while delivering timely, accurate results under tight deadlines.
• People-first leadership approach with strong emotional intelligence.
• Proactive, intellectually curious, and enthusiastic about process improvement.
• Experience in the technology, software, services, or entertainment industry is a plus.
