This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Take ownership of the complete revenue recognition process in compliance with ASC 606 and GAAP.
• Analyze customer contracts to ascertain the appropriate accounting treatment for software, subscription, implementation, professional services, and other revenue streams.
• Oversee revenue-related month-end and quarter-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, deferred revenue, and necessary supporting schedules.
• Ensure precise revenue and deferred revenue reporting while investigating any variances.
• Collaborate with Sales, Legal, Finance, and Customer teams on non-standard contracts, pricing models, amendments, renewals, and other revenue-related matters.
• Create and maintain technical accounting documentation and memos regarding revenue recognition.
• Assist in forecasting and reporting by offering insights into revenue trends, timing, and key drivers.
• Recognize opportunities to automate and enhance revenue accounting processes and controls.
• Aid in annual audits and provide documentation regarding revenue recognition and contract accounting.
• Enhance internal controls and ensure that revenue processes are ready for audits.
• Act as the internal expert on revenue accounting and ASC 606.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with significant exposure to revenue accounting.
• CPA or experience in public accounting.
• Background in a SaaS or recurring-revenue business model.
• Strong understanding of ASC 606 and U.S. GAAP.
• Experience in reviewing SaaS, software, or complex customer contracts.
• Competence in managing revenue during month-end and quarter-end closings.
• Proficient in Excel and financial systems.
• Ability to convert technical accounting requirements into actionable business guidance.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Capability to operate at both technical and strategic levels.
• Comfortable in cross-functional roles and adept at navigating ambiguity within a growing organization.
• Proficient in process development.
• Preferred: experience with ERP, billing, CRM, and revenue automation systems.
• Preferred: experience supporting a scaling or private equity-backed organization.
• Preferred: familiarity with multi-element arrangements, professional services, implementation fees, contract modifications, and variable consideration.
• Must reside in an eligible U.S. state; eligible states include Texas, Florida, Missouri, Arizona, Indiana, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.
