This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee all general accounting activities, including operating expenses, capital expenditures, internal payroll and benefits costs, along with associated balance sheet accounts.
• Manage accounting and standalone reporting for the CCFS lending division and Open Health trust.
• Evaluate account reconciliations and enhance reconciliation workflows, reporting processes, and closing timelines.
• Sustain the internal control environment and lead the assessment and remediation of control documentation.
• Produce monthly and quarterly financial statements with variance analysis compared to budgets, forecasts, and prior period performance.
• Offer strategic insights and recommendations to senior management.
• Assist in the annual 401(k) audit and quarterly internal compliance evaluations.
• Aid in tax-related audits and supply documentation to the corporate tax department.
• Oversee regulatory compliance submissions, including Census, Department of Labor, and Canadian Statistics Surveys.
• Facilitate the external financial statement audit.
• Work in collaboration with HR, Payroll, Finance, Systems, and Technology teams on accounting, systems, integrations, and automation.
• Create, document, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in compliance with GAAP.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically dispersed accounting team.
• Drive recruitment, goal setting, performance management, and professional growth.
• Manage special projects and ad hoc initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive, comprehensive accounting and finance experience.
• At least 3 years in a leadership position.
• Experience within a complex, multi-entity organization is highly preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong systems experience, including large enterprise financial systems and business intelligence tools.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle products is preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with technology teams on system enhancements, integrations, and process automation.
• Proficiency in Excel, including If Statements, Macros, Pivots, and Vlookup.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver timely, accurate results under pressure.
• People-centric leadership approach with high emotional intelligence.
• Skills in collaboration, clear communication, and trust-building.
• Proactive, intellectually curious, and focused on continuous improvement.
• Experience in the technology, software, services, or entertainment sectors is a plus.
