Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer – DB2 Physical

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver exceptional DB2 Systems Programmer support and services to Ensono mainframe clients regarding Mainframe DB2 systems.

• The ideal candidate will execute mainframe database software upgrades alongside administration and tuning to enhance our customers’ DB2 environments.

• The individual will collaborate with vendor personnel to ensure timely resolution of database issues.

• Responsibilities will include daily database maintenance tasks such as creating backups, executing restores, monitoring file extent growth, scheduling reorganizations, developing and maintaining disaster recovery procedures, and providing overall support for customer needs and requests.

• The successful candidate will undertake various database optimizations, which will encompass general reporting and analysis of database configuration efficiency and regular assessment of database performance.

• This position reports to the Senior Manager of Mainframe Systems Programming.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree is required, or equivalent work experience.

• Over 10 years of professional experience in DB2 Systems Programming support, including IDAA. Familiarity with CA and IBM tools for DB2 is advantageous.

• Comprehensive understanding of best practices in software management, maintenance, and documentation.

• Experience with SMP/e.

• Proficient in configuring and managing DB2 in a parallel Sysplex environment.

• Capability to develop innovative strategies, processes, and best practices in software management.

• Experienced in establishing policies and procedures related to database management, disaster recovery, security, maintenance, and utilization.

• Familiarity with reviewing new versions of DB2 for functionality and advising on their client benefits.

• Ability to assess change requests and evaluate their impact on assigned clients, as well as troubleshoot and resolve production database issues.

• Experience supporting DB2 security requests.

• Skilled at reviewing DB2 security to identify potential risks.

• Experience in reorganizing application data.

• Proficient in reviewing and tuning internal DB2 buffer pools and SQL code.

• Demonstrated ability to respond swiftly and effectively to support requests from multiple clients.

• Experienced in providing after-hours on-call support for multiple customers.
