Senior MacOS QA Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Evaluate macOS security features including system extensions, Endpoint Security, and Network Extension frameworks.

• Create and implement manual testing plans for system extensions, inter-process communication, and low-level operating system integration points.

• Investigate and document edge cases, race conditions, compatibility scenarios, and regressions across different macOS versions.

• Reproduce and isolate intricate issues related to sandboxing, SIP and TCC interactions, launch services, and daemon behaviors.

• Collaborate closely with development, support, product, and automation teams to triage, verify, and resolve bugs and compatibility concerns.

• Validate interactions between the macOS platform and third-party applications and services.

• Partner with SDETs to convert exploratory and regression cases into candidates for automation.

• Stay well-informed about changes in macOS releases and their potential impact on functionality and compatibility.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of QA experience with macOS applications, particularly in security, system-level, or compatibility testing.

• In-depth understanding of macOS internals, including System Extensions, Endpoint Security, XPC, TCC, SIP, Launch Services, and file systems.

• Familiarity with macOS diagnostic and monitoring tools such as Console, Activity Monitor, Instruments, fs_usage, dtrace, tcpdump, and lldb.

• Experience testing low-level products like VPNs, endpoint security tools, or antivirus software.

• Proficiency in reading crash reports and debugging logs to identify root causes.

• Capability to work autonomously and conduct thorough investigations into issues before escalating.

• Exceptional written communication skills for creating clear test case documentation and bug reports.
