This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Establish the technical vision that integrates data science with engineering.
• Take ownership of the architecture, scalability, and dependability of high-performance machine learning systems for the fraud detection platform.
• Enhance multi-GPU training for foundational payment models, including Transformers.
• Determine how data is modeled, stored, and served, impacting feature generation pipelines and data quality throughout the ML lifecycle.
• Assume strategic responsibility for ML infrastructure, platforms, and tools that facilitate Data Science experimentation.
• Work alongside engineers and data scientists to manage and optimize machine learning at scale.
• Direct the design, architecture, and orchestration of comprehensive ML pipelines, from raw data extraction and feature engineering to training and inference.
• Create high-throughput pipelines for terabyte-scale datasets and multi-GPU training.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives involving Data Engineering, Infra, and other teams.
• Advance MLOps infrastructure for model versioning, automated deployments, monitoring, and observability.
• Guide team members through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
• Enhance internal tools and engineering best practices.
• Proven experience in designing, building, and deploying complex machine learning systems in a production environment.
• Profound understanding of the entire machine learning lifecycle.
• History of leading the design and implementation of scalable training pipelines for extensive datasets.
• Familiarity with PyTorch or TensorFlow, as well as distributed/multi-GPU training and transformer architectures.
• Knowledge of workflow orchestration tools such as Prefect, Kubeflow, or Argo.
• Experience in managing complex cross-functional projects and influencing technical direction across teams.
• Solid foundation in software engineering principles, including data structures, design patterns, Git, CI/CD, testing, and monitoring.
• Outstanding problem-solving capabilities and the ability to conduct technical deep-dives in uncertain situations.
• Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.
• Nice to have: proficiency in Go, C++, Java, or Rust.
• Nice to have: familiarity with dbt.
