
Senior Loss Control Specialist – Workers Compensation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Delivers specialized risk management solutions and loss control services to both current and prospective policyholders.
• Identifies potential hazards and risks present in the workplace.
• Evaluates the safety protocols and procedures of the insured.
• Develops and implements effective strategies aimed at reducing accidents or injuries and alleviating subsequent workers' compensation claims.
• Offers valuable insights to Underwriting based on workplace assessments.
• Aids Underwriting in accurately pricing risk.
• Collaborates closely with policyholders to foster an enhanced safety culture within the organization.
• Requires extensive travel using various modes of transportation, including but not limited to car, plane, or train.
• EDUCATION: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health & Sciences, Engineering, Hard Sciences (Math, Chemistry, Biology, Physics), or a related field.
• CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES: A valid Driver’s License to operate a vehicle in the United States in good standing is required. One or more of the following certifications are necessary: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Ergonomist (CE), and/or a Masters-level certification. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
• At least seven years of experience in providing loss control or occupation-related safety services, preferably with a workers’ compensation carrier, is required.
• Proven experience in developing, implementing, and auditing safety management systems for organizations is mandatory.
• Demonstrated experience applying advanced investigation techniques and protocols in complex work environments, as well as conducting analyses on diverse incident data to identify patterns and root causes for developing innovative and effective mitigation recommendations.
• Familiarity with formal analytical tools (e.g., Fishbone, Failure Modes and Effects, Fault Tree, etc.) is essential.
• Experience in the development of emergency response plans is required.
