
Senior Litigation Counsel – Engineering, Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Serve as a valued and trusted member of the Atlas Legal Department.
• Primarily tasked with overseeing and managing all stages of intricate engineering, construction, commercial, employment, and select personal injury/auto/property damage litigation and claims, which includes early dispute resolution, discovery, motions, trial preparation, and post-trial activities.
• Act as the main point of contact for litigation, claims, and employment law issues, collaborating and coordinating with other team members within the Legal Department and the Company.
• Engage with and manage outside counsel on litigation matters, including the selection and coordination of outside counsel, oversight of legal budgets, and driving case strategy.
• Draft, review, and negotiate pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and various case documents.
• Conduct internal investigations, perform legal research, issue and oversee litigation holds, manage third-party subpoenas, and handle the discovery process, including document production, deposition preparation, and responses to discovery requests.
• Regularly communicate and work directly with insurance companies regarding litigation matters.
• Provide advice to the Company, with necessary support from outside counsel, on employment-related issues and obligations, including internal disputes, wage and hour compliance, and the development of HR policies.
• Collaborate with the health & safety team on OSHA and other regulatory and policy matters, working with outside counsel when needed.
• Provide practical, business-focused legal advice aimed at achieving Company objectives in a legally compliant manner.
• Work together with other members of the Legal Team to enhance the processes and operations of the Legal Department.
• Assist and support other members of the Legal Department as required.
• A minimum of 8 years of litigation experience, including at least 3 to 5 years in the engineering/construction sector is essential.
• Experience in employment law and advising on employment-related matters is advantageous.
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to a State Bar are required.
• Extensive experience in managing or litigating complex cases in state and/or federal court is crucial.
• Preference for candidates with both in-house and law firm experience, although it is not mandatory.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities are necessary.
• A team-oriented individual with a positive attitude who enjoys collaboration is essential.
• Ability to manage a large, fast-paced, and dynamic workload with minimal supervision is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
• A strong client-service orientation and exceptional work ethic are essential.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills are needed.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful environment is required.
• Must maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and sound judgment.
• Willingness to travel as necessary is required.
