This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.
• Oversee all assigned mortgage litigation cases.
• Actively monitor cases, pinpoint risks, and escalate high-risk issues.
• Collaborate with external counsel to devise and execute litigation strategies.
• Draft case summaries and engage in discussions with counsel and outside investors.
• Update and manage the Thompson Reuters Legal Tracker litigation database, reporting on litigation status, strategies, critical events, and deadlines to management and investors.
• Track hearings, depositions, motions, pleadings, and other litigation-related events.
• Evaluate new litigation matters to assess risk, resolution, and settlement strategies.
• Anticipate and prepare for all stages of litigation.
• Oversee discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, preparing deposition witnesses, and coordinating document production.
• Manage relationships with outside counsel, including updates, work efficiency, budgets, and invoicing.
• Assist with subpoenas, law enforcement inquiries, regulatory requests, special projects, and training for litigation staff.
• Generate reports and provide litigation support when team members are unavailable.
• Respond to email inquiries within 24 hours.
• Recommend procedural enhancements and improvements.
• Conduct research and analyze requests to determine appropriate responses.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with laws, regulations, and guidelines from investors and insurers governing residential mortgage servicing, including CFPB, GNMA, FHA, VA, USDA, FNMA, and FHLMC.
• Comprehensive experience with mortgage servicing databases, including MSP, LPS, ICE, Legal Tracker, and others.
• Familiarity with mortgage loan servicing and the processes of default, foreclosure, bankruptcy, and loss mitigation.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of diverse tasks effectively.
• Capacity to work independently, adapt to a fast-paced and evolving business environment, and achieve case management objectives.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution, or an Associate's degree from an accredited college along with a paralegal certification.
• Over 10 years of relevant experience as a paralegal or litigation specialist within mortgage servicing.
• Experience working in the legal department of a mortgage servicer.
• Proficiency in Legal Tracker or similar litigation case management databases, MSP, Black Knight/LPS, Microsoft Office, and Internet Explorer.
• Ability to uphold confidentiality and meet multiple deadlines.
