Senior Linux Software Developer – System Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee the maintenance of the MMS system software within a GitLab repository.

• Adjust software/system design as needed to comply with the ever-evolving DoD Cyber regulations and requirements.

• Develop and execute test plans for all necessary code modifications.

• Create and modify scripts or wrappers in Python, Java, and Go to manage information flow across the MMS system.

• Ensure that data feeds from associated LiDAR and other weather inputs are properly configured to produce usable model outputs.

• Implement, manage, and maintain all essential virtual private clouds (VPCs).

• Implement, manage, and maintain all necessary server instances to support application functionality.

• Update and manage security groups as needed to secure VPC and EC2 server instances.

• Implement, manage, and maintain all required Identity Access Management (IAM) roles and policies to ensure the security of VPCs, EC2 instances, and native cloud services (e.g., serverless functions).

• Implement, manage, and maintain Cloud Formation scripts (infrastructure as code) required to instantiate all cloud-based resources and configurations.

• Keep Yum patch repositories updated and apply patches to MMS AWS instances on a weekly basis.

• Manage the Slurm Workload manager.
