This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Engineer, scale, and maintain the foundational Valassis DMT platform environment.
• Design, develop, and sustain declarative Puppet and Ansible configuration modules.
• Automate the provisioning of systems, deployment of applications, and ensure continuous compliance across both bare-metal and virtualized nodes.
• Administer, tune, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux environments, focusing primarily on Ubuntu.
• Conduct kernel optimization, enhance security measures, and improve system uptime.
• Operate and refine OpenStack, LXD, KVM, and ESXi virtualization and hypervisor layers.
• Facilitate automated provisioning of bare-metal servers.
• Oversee and maintain persistent storage infrastructure and physical SAN equipment.
• Implement platform refreshes, decommission legacy environments, and manage infrastructure migrations across data center footprints.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• A minimum of 5–7+ years of progressively responsible hands-on experience in Linux infrastructure engineering, systems administration, and cloud infrastructure automation.
• Expert-level hands-on experience in engineering, hardening, and maintaining enterprise Ubuntu/Debian server environments.
• Demonstrated proficiency in authoring custom Puppet modules and Ansible playbooks/roles.
• Strong foundational knowledge of bare-metal provisioning concepts along with KVM, LXD, and ESXi hypervisor/container runtimes.
• Comprehensive understanding of enterprise storage architectures, including SAN/NAS devices, block and object storage concepts, and volume management.
• Working knowledge of cross-platform Active Directory integration, enterprise PKI/certificate enrollment, and domain identity services.
• Experience with OpenStack components, including Nova, Neutron, Cinder, and Keystone, is preferred.
• Direct experience with Ceph storage clusters is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Canonical MAAS or similar automated bare-metal provisioning platforms is preferred.
• Familiarity with MicroCloud deployment and lightweight cloud infrastructure environments is preferred.
