This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Create commercially relevant legal and compliance content of both national and global importance for Practical Law’s online offerings.
• Compose and revise standard form documents, practice guidance notes, checklists, and various legal resources in accordance with Practical Law's writing style.
• Contribute to the editorial enhancement of Practical Law and Thomson Reuters products, including initiatives related to Global and AI.
• Develop and sustain relationships with external law firm contributors.
• Write and edit content for Practical Law The Journal.
• Keep abreast of developments and legal matters concerning commercial contracting and practice.
• Revise existing content and create new material.
• Cultivate relationships with private-practice lawyers, in-house counsel, and legal professional organizations.
• Aid AI initiatives by training AI models for products and assessing their performance.
• Support product development, as well as sales and marketing efforts.
• Conduct customer sales demonstrations and webinars as needed.
• Address subscriber queries related to Practical Law resources.
• At least eight years of experience as a lawyer in a law firm or serving as in-house counsel.
• Familiarity with the needs and priorities of attorneys in both law firms and corporate legal departments.
• Proficiency in commercial transactional and regulatory matters, including but not limited to: general contract principles and boilerplate, government contracting, multi-state consumer regulatory issues and compliance, manufacturing and supply chain compliance, franchise and distribution transactions, e-commerce transactions, and consulting or professional services arrangements.
• Strong skills in project management.
• Capability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• A knack for legal writing and a passion for it.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Proficient command of grammar, punctuation, and plain English.
• Ability to clarify complex legal issues in a straightforward manner.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively with team members.
• Willingness to engage in tasks beyond just writing legal resources.
• A writing sample will be required from candidates who advance to a second interview.
