Senior Legal & Court Transcription Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Transcribe and evaluate law enforcement, legal, investigative, and various recorded proceedings.

• Offer subject-matter expertise for court and judicial transcription assignments.

• Assess transcripts for precision, thoroughness, formatting, speaker identification, legal terminology, and adherence to client specifications.

• Interpret and apply court-specific transcript manuals, templates, and formatting guidelines.

• Assist in the creation of court transcription workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), templates, and quality control measures.

• Aid in the evaluation and mentoring of transcriptionists engaged in legal or court-related work.

• Collaborate with the operations team to estimate staffing and production needs for upcoming court projects.

• Provide technical insights when assessing court and judicial transcription requests for proposals.

• Take on a coordinating or leadership role for court transcription projects as the judicial business expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive professional experience in legal transcription.

• Direct experience in transcribing recorded court proceedings is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with preparing transcripts in accordance with court-specific regulations and formatting guidelines.

• Knowledge of verbatim transcription, multi-speaker proceedings, exhibits, witness testimonies, examinations, and legal terminology.

• Experience with transcript certification and quality assurance processes.

• Capability to research unfamiliar names, terminology, citations, and other content for transcripts.

• Ability to work autonomously while adhering to strict accuracy and turnaround times.

• Experience in reviewing or mentoring other transcriptionists is highly desirable.

• Must be U.S.-based and able to meet client-specific background, confidentiality, and security standards.
