Senior Lead Asset Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic and operational oversight for Greenbrier’s owned and managed railcar assets.

• Lead and mentor Asset Managers and Senior Asset Managers.

• Supervise shop performance, address customer escalations, monitor fleet reliability, maintain service levels, and fulfill customer requirements.

• Oversee onboarding, training, performance development, and performance management of team members.

• Develop, enhance, and implement SOPs, workflows, and operational standards.

• Act as a subject matter expert on technical and procedural matters.

• Serve as the primary liaison for asset condition updates, escalations, and resolution planning with customers, repair shops, and internal departments.

• Make decisions on repair execution, shop performance, vendor coordination, and operational issues that impact customers.

• Represent Asset Management in leadership meetings, cross-functional workgroups, customer briefings, and industry forums.

• Analyze shop performance, cost trends, performance anomalies, and opportunities for maintenance optimization.

• Approve and audit complex repair estimates and invoices to ensure regulatory compliance, standards adherence, and cost-effectiveness.

• Manage bad order and program cars throughout repair cycles utilizing Greenbrier asset management systems.

• Direct and approve scrapping processes for assets at the end of their lifecycle.

• Provide strategic oversight of fleet performance, lifecycle planning, and regulatory compliance.

• Utilize fleet analytics to evaluate program health, identify cost drivers, and formulate corrective actions.

• Offer executive-level oversight of program execution post-handoff from the Asset Management Program Planner.

• Ensure accurate real-time reporting of mechanical events, maintenance programs, repair progress, and asset movement.

• Monitor regulatory updates and industry best practices, implementing necessary changes.

• Conduct periodic railcar inspections.

• Provide overflow support for estimate and invoice review and approval during peak demand periods.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience.

• A minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in the rail industry, with a focus on railcar maintenance, asset management, or repair operations.

• Strongly preferred experience in coordinating technical projects involving multiple stakeholders.

• Proven track record in directly leading, coaching, and developing employees in a technical or operational setting.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel.

• Capability to interpret operational and financial data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable strategies.

• Experience with Power BI, Salesforce, Enspire, workflow automation, or AI-powered productivity tools is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with rail asset management systems and processes is preferred.

• Strong analytical skills and strategic decision-making capabilities in technical, high-volume environments.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across various functions and levels.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

• Working knowledge of AAR and FRA regulations is strongly preferred.
